BEAUTIFUL METAL

In addition to our normal metal fabrication work, various members of Santa Barbara Forge & Iron actively pursue sculpture as an artistic medium for its own sake.

Dan Patterson, founder and owner of Santa Barbara Forge & Iron, received his Masters in Fine Arts from Transart Institute in 2010. His thesis explores the complex relationship between social identity, religious devotion and compulsive behavior and included a series of sculptures dealing with various aspects of Tourette's Syndrome, a neurological disorder with whom several members of the Patterson family have been diagnosed. Several of Dan's sculptures can be seen on display at Westmont College in Montecito, California, as well as collaborative works with the Irvine/Cabada design team at Santa Barbara's Cabrillo Boulevard Pedestrian Beach Walkway.
